Why the Rest of the Vehicle Matters
A corrected, coated hood looks great next to gray, chalky trim and a windshield covered in road film. Kansas City is hard on these surfaces. Summer UV bakes plastic, winter salt dries on glass and seals, and spring storms leave mineral spots on everything.
Protecting only the paint leaves the most exposed materials on the vehicle to age on their own. Treating them together keeps the whole vehicle looking consistent.
Glass Coatings
A windshield coating is a hydrophobic layer made for glass. Water beads and runs off instead of smearing, which helps visibility in rain and at night. Bug residue, ice, and road film release more easily, so wiper use and scraping are gentler on the glass.
The glass is cleaned and decontaminated first, since a coating over embedded residue will not bond evenly. A glass coating does not stop chips or cracks. It is about water behavior and easier cleaning, not impact protection.
Trim and Plastics
Black exterior trim fades when UV and harsh chemicals break down the surface. Once the color is gone, a coating cannot bring it back. What it can do, applied to trim that has been properly cleaned and restored where possible, is help resist further fading and make grime easier to wipe off.
Textured plastic is porous, so prep matters more here than almost anywhere else. Old dressings and dirt have to come out before anything goes on, or the result will look blotchy.
| Surface | What a Coating Helps With |
|---|---|
| Windshield and windows | Water beading, easier cleaning, ice and bug residue release |
| Exterior plastic trim | UV resistance, slows fading, easier cleaning |
| Wheels | Brake dust release, easier cleaning, wheel ceramic coating |
| Painted surfaces | Gloss, UV and chemical resistance, easier washing |
Doing It With the Paint
The most efficient time to coat glass, trim, and wheels is during a paint coating. The vehicle is already washed, decontaminated, and prepped. Our ceramic coating packages start with Core at $950 for 3-5 years of protection, with Signature at $1,400 and Ultimate at $1,900 for longer protection. Glass, trim, and wheel coating can be quoted with any of them.
If paint needs work first, paint correction or paint enhancement comes before any of it. We decide that after inspecting the vehicle.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you ceramic coat windshields and car windows?
Yes. A dedicated glass coating makes water bead and sheet off, which helps visibility in rain and makes ice and bug residue easier to clear. It is applied to clean, decontaminated glass and is separate from the paint coating.
Does ceramic coating restore faded black trim?
No. A coating protects trim, it does not bring back color that is already lost. We clean and restore the trim first where possible, then coat it to help resist UV and keep it from fading further.
Is the same coating used on paint, glass, and plastic?
Not always. Each surface gets a product made for it. Paint, glass, wheels, and textured plastic behave differently, so we match the product and prep to the material.
Will a glass coating stop windshield chips?
No. A coating is a thin chemical layer and does not prevent chips or cracks from rocks. It helps with water repellency and cleaning, not impact protection.
Can glass, trim, and plastics be coated at the same time as the paint?
Yes, and that is usually the most efficient way to do it. We can include them with a paint coating package or add them to a vehicle that was coated earlier.
