Most detailing shops work the same way: you drive in, hand over the keys, arrange a ride, and come back later. That model works fine if you have the time. A lot of Kansas City car owners don't.
Mobile detailing flips that. A professional comes to your location with everything they need and does the work while you stay home, sit at your desk, or handle whatever else is on your schedule. The car gets done. You didn't have to go anywhere.
Mythical Detailing offers mobile service for most of what we do, covering the full Kansas City metro on both sides of the state line.
What Mobile Detailing Covers
Mobile works well for services that don't require a lift, specialized lighting, or a climate-controlled environment. At your location, we can handle:
- Interior detail — full vacuum and blowout, leather cleaning and conditioning, all surfaces wiped down, floor mats, interior glass, door jambs. Starts at $195 for a coupe, $215 for a sedan or crossover, $235 for a large SUV or truck.
- Premium package — interior detail plus an exterior wash and paint sealant. The best single-visit reset we offer. Starts at $310.
- Maintenance plan visits — regular hand washes to keep a ceramic-coated car clean and protected between deeper services.
- Paint enhancement — a light machine polish to improve gloss and reduce minor surface defects. Works well outdoors in good conditions on paint that doesn't need full correction.
- Decontamination and sealant — iron removal, clay bar, and 6-month ceramic sealant application. A full exterior reset that doesn't require shop conditions.
If you're not sure whether your job can be done mobile, call us at (816) 200-2581 and we'll tell you straight.
Why Ceramic Coating and Paint Correction Stay at the Shop
This comes up a lot: "Can you coat my car in my driveway?"
The short answer is no, and it's not about convenience. It's about results.
Ceramic coating cures in direct contact with air. Temperature, humidity, and airborne dust all affect how the product bonds to the clear coat. Apply it in the wrong conditions and you get high spots, hazing, or adhesion failures that require significant correction to undo. That's a bad outcome for both of us.
Paint correction has the same problem. Finding swirl marks, scratches, and haze requires dedicated lighting, the kind you simply can't replicate outdoors or in a residential garage. And machine polishing in a dusty environment introduces contamination into fresh paint right as it's being worked.
Our shop at 13600 NW 61st Street in Parkville is climate-controlled, lit properly for paint inspection, and set up specifically for this work. If you want ceramic coating or paint correction done right, it happens there. There's no mobile shortcut that produces the same result.
That said, we know the drop-off is an extra step. Most ceramic coating jobs are a two-day appointment. We try to make scheduling as simple as possible, and we respond to quote requests within the hour during business hours.

What to Expect When You Book
Here's how a mobile appointment works from start to finish:
- Request a quote — fill out the form on our site or call. Tell us what service you need, your vehicle size, and your location. We respond within the hour during business hours.
- We confirm and schedule — we'll lock in a date and give you a 2-hour arrival window so you're not sitting around waiting for us to show up.
- We arrive with everything — water, power, all products and equipment. You don't need to provide anything or move anything out of the way.
- We work, you do your thing — most clients go back inside. We keep the process clean and professional and stay out of the way.
- You inspect before we leave — we do a walk-around together before we pack up. If anything needs a second look, we address it on the spot.
Most mobile appointments run 2 to 4 hours depending on service and vehicle condition. An interior detail is typically 2 to 3 hours. A premium package covering interior and exterior runs 3 to 4 hours.
Is Mobile Detailing Worth It?
For the right service, yes, and by a wide margin.
If you have a ceramic-coated car and need a maintenance wash, there's no reason to drive anywhere. A hand wash done improperly, even at a tunnel wash, can introduce swirls into your clear coat and degrade the coating over time. Having us come out and do it correctly protects your investment.
If you want a full interior clean before a long trip or you're prepping the car to sell, a mobile interior detail is one of the best-value services we offer. A proper interior reset at $195 to $235 takes about 2 to 3 hours and leaves the cabin in a condition that holds up for months.
For ceramic coating and paint correction, the shop is the right call, full stop. The quality difference between shop work and mobile work on those services is not small. We'd rather be direct about that upfront than have you disappointed with the result.
