Paint Correction
Kansas City, MO
Machine polishing to remove swirls, scratches, water spots, and oxidation from your paint. One-step and two-step options. Every job finishes with a 6-month ceramic sealant.
What Paint Correction Actually Does
Swirls and scratches are in the clear coat
Most paint defects, swirls, light scratches, water spots, live in the top layer of your paint's clear coat. A machine polisher with the right compound removes a controlled amount of that clear coat to level out the surface. Done correctly, the defects are gone.
One step vs. two step
A one-step polish uses a single product that cuts and finishes simultaneously. It works well on moderate defects. A two-step uses a heavier cutting compound first to remove defects, then a refining polish to bring the gloss back up. More work, better result on damaged paint.
Decontamination comes first
Before any polish touches the paint, we remove iron particles with a chemical fallout remover, then clay bar the surface to pull out embedded contaminants. Polishing over contaminated paint pushes debris into the clear coat and causes new scratches.
Sealant finishes every job
After correction, we apply a 6-month ceramic sealant. It protects the work we just did, adds hydrophobic performance, and gives the paint a clean, glossy finish while you decide on next steps, whether that's a full ceramic coating or just maintaining what you have.

Paint Correction Questions
Can you fix deep scratches that go through the clear coat?
Paint correction addresses clear coat defects, swirls, light scratches, and surface oxidation. If a scratch penetrates through the clear coat into the base coat or primer, machine polishing won't remove it. We'll tell you honestly what correction can and can't fix on your specific paint before we start.
Do you do paint correction mobile?
No. Paint correction is done at our Parkville shop. Proper lighting, controlled conditions, and access to power are all required for accurate machine polishing. Mobile services at Mythical are for interior details and maintenance, not paint work.
How do I know if I need one-step or two-step?
If your paint has heavy swirl marks, deep scratches, or visible oxidation, especially on dark-colored vehicles, two-step is the right call. If the paint looks decent overall but has moderate swirls or light scratches, one-step may be enough. Send us photos and we'll give you a straight answer.
How long does paint correction take?
A one-step on a small vehicle typically takes a full day. Two-step can run longer, especially on larger vehicles with significant paint defects. We'll give you a realistic time estimate when you book.
